Please see the attached advertisement (and this news piece) for an early career researcher workshop in Kazakhstan, coordinated by Professor Alistair Boxall (Environment Department, University of York) and Dr Raikhan Beisenova (L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Kazakhstan). Dr Simon Parker (Co-Director of CURB) from the Department of Politics, York, will also be taking part in the event.
The call for applications to the workshop is now open (the deadline is midnight on 2nd November, 2014).
The workshop is entitled, ‘Sustainable Cities: rapid urbanisation and sustainability in Kazakhstan – exploring the use of novel technologies and research methods to address environmental and social change’. We would like applications from a broad range of disciplines, including natural sciences, social sciences and technology development. The workshop will take place from 26th-30th January, 2015 at the L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Astana (Kazakhstan).
Early career researchers must have a PhD, or equivalent research/work experience, and be within 10 years of receiving their doctorate. Applicants must be employed as researchers and can be from the academic, private, regulatory, public or non-governmental sectors.
