The University of Manchester is the largest single site University in the UK, receives one of the highest volumes of applications for undergraduate study in the sector and performs at the top end of the Russell Group for widening participation and fair access.
The Student Recruitment and International Development Division is a large and integral part of the University’s Directorate for the Student Experience. It is responsible for supporting Schools and Faculties in ensuring that the University can identify and recruit high calibre home and international students into undergraduate and postgraduate study. Its widening participation work aims to ensure prospective students of outstanding achievement and potential are identified from all educational backgrounds. It also aims to promote progression into higher education more generally, particularly within the University’s local communities, where progression rates into higher forms of learning are amongst the lowest in the UK.
The Student Recruitment and Widening Participation Interns will play a key role in the delivery of a dynamic institutional recruitment and widening participation strategy based on evidence of impact, market intelligence, and best-practice locally and nationally. In fulfilling this role, close liaison and effective support for Student Recruitment and Widening Participation Officers and Student Ambassadors will be required. The primary focus of these posts is to support the delivery, administration, training and support of key corporate-level recruitment and widening participation activities consistent with the University’s goals surrounding equity of access to higher education and undergraduate recruitment.
