This 2016/17 we are piloting a new programme titled “PGR Writing Support Groups” which is designed to offer further academic writing support through peer-led writing groups, facilitated by a qualified and experienced “English for Academic Purposes” specialist. These writing groups work on the principle of giving and receiving feedback. In order to take part, you would be expected not only to submit a piece of writing (up to 1000 words) but also provide feedback on someone else’s writing. The role of the facilitator would be to identify and clarify any English language issues that are common to the group. Please note this is NOT a one-to-one support session, NOT a proofreading service, and is NOT a replacement for supervisory advice.
If you feel you could use a “critical friend” to read through a section of your thesis, or you feel you would benefit from discussing your work with others, then these writing groups would be for you. These groups are open to PGRs from all years.
Due to the nature of these session there is no online registration. Please read the information sheet for joining instructions: http://documents.manchester.ac.uk/display.aspx?DocID=30363
