My name is José Gustavo Góngora-Goloubintseff, and I am a second-year PhD student in Translation and Intercultural Studies at the University of Manchester. Last Tuesday 22nd October I was invited to Somos con Cecilia Ramos, the only Spanish-speaking radio programme broadcasting from North West England. During the interview, Cecilia Ramos and Rata de Biblioteca (Library’s Rat) asked me insightful questions about the Spanish Wikipedia and my involvement in the user-driven encyclopaedia. It was a great opportunity not only to share my experience as a long-time Wikipedia editor but also to get down to the nitty-gritty of the project and answer some tricky questions about reliability and verifiability. Towards the end of my participation in the programme, Cecilia asked me about my current research at the university and gave me a nice present. I want to thank everyone in the programme for their professionalism and cheerfulness. They made me feel comfortable and welcome. Last but not least, I’m indebted to Hellen Parra Florez for her commitment to our university and for making this possible.
